Oh my. This one is breathtaking!
Conversation Piece is one of the most beautiful pieces David ever wrote. He recorded it in the 60s but we recorded it again in 2000. This song is so gorgeous. It’s in my top 10 of David’s songs.
The strings, arranged by Tony Visconti, are superb. Sterling’s drumming is exquisite. Mark Plati is just an amazing musician.
To play the piano on a piece like this was comparable to playing Chopin or Beethoven. This is an example of me playing quite sparsely as that’s just what the song required. I guess we were fifty years ahead of our time. It wasn’t only the Ziggy period where great music was made.
