Strangers When We Meet is one of the most underrated Bowie songs. I really love this truly incredible version. The piano was mixed perfectly. Notice how everyone in the band just played the perfect part. If it weren’t for their laying it down so beautifully, there would have been no way for me to have had the freedom to improvise so continuously underneath or to be as supportive to David. I hope you hear and see what I see. He was the artist of many generations.
Love,
Mike
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Mike,
So beautiful to watch 🥲 but also a heartwarming feeling. Thank you love your work on this, love this song.

Always Amazing
Wonderful. I’ve been watching g a lot of David’s 90s gigs recently & there are so many great shows and underrated songs. He is a huge influence on me, and I miss him more every year.
Yes he is!
This versjon have me in tears.
Just fantastic played, and looking at all you musicians smiling and enjoying yourself gives me goosebumps.
A fantastic version of a wonderful song. Loved it when it came out on The Buddha of Suburbia but the Outside version is something special. Loved hearing it live as well
Love this song! Love the dialogue between piano and voice!
Brilliant! Can’t say much else except thank you Mike for posting this….I have a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye xxx
Superlative.
Thanks Mike, I’ve not seen that video before. Strangers When We Meet has always been a standout piece from the Outside album for me and I agree with you, I think it is one of David’s overlooked gems. 👌❤
Thank you Mike-Simply beautiful!!
Always appreciate all your posts!! Hope you had a great summer creating music💕🤗
I’m not sure anyone can see and hear what you see? That being said, I think I see the ethereal beauty of Bowie, His incredible Band, and your lovely inspired improvisation(s).
Excellent version and top notch band. Thank you Mike!
Superb version. I saw it on Tv in the original broadcast and was so moved to tears. What a voice, what a piano, what a band!
Beautiful song! Mike you are the best!
Yes see that so clearly Mike. Every band member played it so well – the performance really was the sum of all the parts. As near to a perfect live performance as you can get. Watched this a lot and it gets better every time, wonderful song
One of my favorites ❤️
Soooooo beautiful ! And your pianowork….sublime ! Like always ! ❤️
Beautiful
Gorgeous. Where was this performance?
beautiful
This was the same band for my first Bowie concert. Beautiful piano as always, Mr. Garson. I have your Bowie interpretations album and it’s wonderful 😊
Thanks for posting this reminiscence!
Thanks for posting, I must agree with a previous comment, first time I saw this. Magic and good to see Gail-Anne in there.
Thank you for sharing this on my birthday. I fell in love with this song when I first head it: the day it was released on Buddha of Suburbia. The outside version just cemented the fact that it was deeply loved by David.
This is THE song that makes me so sad that the man who wrote it is no longer with us. It’s perfect.
Another life changing song for the 11-year-old me was your piano, Mike, on Aladdin Sane. Your improvisation sounded so all over the place yet perfect, such an incredible tension, culminating in you just hitting the same chord again and again. THANK YOU, Mike.
Absolutely exceptional. Performed in such a professional yet relaxed manner. Thanks for sharing. DB is my biggest individual life influence. His vocal here is so good.
I have not heard this song before and it’s just given me utter butterflies – everyone playing it to perfection. Just as you alluded. Thank you for posting it.
