David and I took a trip to New York on a day off of the Outside tour to play this song at a fundraising event at the Manhattan Center in 1995. There were so many great performances throughout the evening but David just tore the house down with this most riveting performance of “My Death.”
If this isn’t simplicity and spellbinding at the same time I don’t know what is. No one ever performed this great work by Jacque Brel better than David. I must have performed this with him in many different scenarios more than fifty times – but this one just floors me. The room got infinitely quiet when David entered. They were mesmerized and knew something very spiritual was happening. I knew it then and I treasure this recording.
